Hello,
We are Matt and Emily. We are excited and grateful for the opportunity to share a little bit about our lives with you. We so admire the steps you’ve already taken to consider adoption. Adoption is very special to our family because our lives were forever changed by the adoption of our two daughters, Madelyn in 2016 and Maren in 2020. We met both of them shortly after birth and we fell in love instantly. Since then our love continues to grow. Parenting is the greatest joy of our lives and it would never have been possible for us without adoption.
We have been happily married for 12 years. We met 14 years ago in a bible study while attending medical school in Louisville, Kentucky. In many ways we fell in love because of our shared views of family, faith, and a desire to live life to the fullest. We moved to Cincinnati 11 years ago to train at Cincinnati Children’s. Emily now works as an outpatient Pediatrician in suburban Cincinnati where she enjoys close relationships with her patients and their families. Matt found his calling in education and he still works at both Children’s Hospital and the University of Cincinnati teaching medical students. We are blessed that Emily is able to work three days a week and Matt’s job has built-in flexibility giving us plenty of time together as a family.
We’ve always dreamed of having a large family. Infertility might have taken that dream away if it weren’t for adoption. God led us to adoption as the way to grow our family and bring beauty out of many difficult years. What absolute joy it is to be parents! Madelyn is a typical five-year old with tons of energy and a hilarious personality. She loves to sing and dance, play pretend, and mother her little sister. Maren is a typical toddler, into everything and she has a fun, feisty personality. She started walking at 9 months and hasn’t stopped since. We have always dreamed of a large family and can’t wait to welcome another little one into our family!
We live in a 2-story home in a wonderful kid friendly and safe neighborhood in Cincinnati. The house is already full of toys, a nursery, tree-house, and a fenced-in backyard. We live one block from kindergarten with many sidewalks to walk/bike and tons of other kids that live nearby. We spend many evenings taking walks to the park, playing outdoors, or just spending quality time together. When we’re together we love trying new recipes, being outdoors, visiting the Zoo and simply having fun together dancing and being silly. Our favorite thing to do is travel and experience new adventures as a family. We feel like we’ve already passed this joy on to both girls because they love trying new restaurants and seeing new places. It is so much fun to see all of these new experiences through their eyes!
Our first adoption is open and our second is closed. Since we have experienced both, we are open to any arrangement with which you might feel comfortable.
