GEMS Birth Mother Support Group
In 2009, Adoption Professionals launched a birth mother support group called GEMS (Giving Each Mother Support). The purpose of GEMS is to reach out to birth mothers whose lives have been touched by adoption.
Our Mission
GEMS’ mission is to provide a caring, non-judgmental and confidential place for birth mothers to share, listen, support and encourage one another in their post-adoption journeys. It is our hope that you can learn and grow in a positive way by hearing others’ stories and sharing your post-adoption experiences. We may be at different places in our adoption journey, but fellowship with other birth mothers helps us to understand that we experience many similar emotions.
Our Commitment
We understand that placing your baby for adoption was one of the most difficult decisions you have ever made and that you made your decision out of love and concern for your baby’s welfare. We are committed to using positive means of coping with the emotional struggles experienced by birth mothers.
We understand that birth mothers love their babies!

“I feel the GEMS support group brings the adoption experience full circle. It has helped me to heal the emotional scars, and come to terms with placement. So many forget the birth mother once the baby is placed. Sheryl and her staff truly care and continue to support us.” – Julie
“Being a part of GEMs has encouraged me that I am not alone. Getting together and hearing the other girls’ stories makes me smile, cry, and laugh at the same time! Coming to GEMS lets me know that I can say anything I want to and we can lean on each other because when they say ‘I know what you mean’, they really do. We understand each other. We are a family brought together by one common interest; we absolutely LOVE our babies!!!” – Jerusha
“GEMS is peace, support, love and sisterhood. Simply understanding.” – Jenn
“GEMS reminds me that I’m not alone in the decision that I made.” – Tori
