Jodi’s Story

After a difficult surgery, I was told I could no longer have children. Imagine my surprise when I learned I was pregnant! Unfortunately, the relationship with the baby’s father was brief and he wanted nothing to do with the baby or me. At this time in my life I just could not imagine raising a child, but knew that I could not abort this miracle.

After many months of soul searching, I decided to investigate adoption. Upon the referral from one of my co workers, I called Adoption Professionals and set up a meeting with Sheryl. I was so nervous not knowing what to expect, but right from the beginning Sheryl put me at ease. Getting to speak with someone who really knew what adoption entails helped me in my decision.

I was able to select my son’s parents from many profiles and I had the chance to interview the family I selected before making any commitments or decisions. I was very fortunate to find Adoption Professionals. They made this very difficult time bearable.

The process of having a baby and placing him for adoption was the hardest thing I have ever done, but Sheryl was with me through it all and was very supportive and understanding. I was able to determine the conditions of the adoption plan and that plan has been carried out to the letter.

Whatever you decide about your pregnancy, do it with not only your baby’s future in mind, but also your own. You are a very important person and whatever you do will be with you forever. At one time I felt very bad and selfish about placing my son, but later realized that it was the least selfish thing I could have done. And, it was the best gift ever to the couple who adopted my son!
