Our names are Matt and Jane and we have been married for about eight years. Our relationship started with a blind date set up by Jane’s mother. Three years later we married in a beautiful ceremony. We are great friends and were so comfortable with each other right from the start.
Matt was raised in North Carolina with his family and two brothers. During college, he spent his summers working as a backpacking and rock climbing instructor in the mountains near Asheville. Matt has been a high school science teacher for 13 years. He teaches chemistry, biology and physics as well as coaches swimming. He loves sharing his passion for science with his students and is regularly mentioned by many students as their favorite teacher. One of Matt’s biggest passions is music. He plays several instruments including guitar and piano and loves being a part of the faculty/student/parent jazz band at school.
Jane grew up in Ohio with her parents and sister. She is a computer programmer and has been with the same company for the last 15 years. Jane has been a distance runner for about 12 years. Jane just completed her third marathon in Washington, DC. She is not fast, but gets a real sense of accomplishment from simply completing the distance. Her personal running motto is “Slow but Stubborn”. Jane also loves to cook. She is the person who makes dozens and dozens of Christmas cookies every year. Friends and co-workers request their favorites and Jane spends weekends in early December elbow deep in flour. Her mom always baked with Jane and her sister when they were kids and Jane can’t wait to bake Christmas cookies with her own children.
We will also share our love of music, travel and adventure with our child. We believe that exposing our child to many people and many places is as important in their education as what they learn in school.
Thanks for taking the time to get to know a little about us and for considering us as the adoptive parents of your baby. We hope to hear from you soon and look forward to meeting you.
